Scored Another One! Arcade Warehouse – June 2009

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Well, I scored it! Let’s chalk another one on the tally board. As far as large bulk deals go, this is my fifth. This lot isn’t the largest I’ve scored, but it isn’t the smallest either. Although there aren’t too many classics in this lot, for the money I think it is still a decent buyout.

Possible Warehouse Raid Soon

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

I am leaving my house in about an hour to investigate another potential warehouse that is about an hour and a half away from my house. I already know the contents of the warehouse, so there should be no suprises, but you never know. This lot is smaller, has fewer classics, and is slightly more expensive – but hey, you gotta take what you can get. The good news is that this lot has far more working games than projects.

I’ll be off shortly to meet with the retired operator and eat lunch with him before getting my hands dirty in the warehouse. If all goes well, I should be picking up the games later this week. Fingers crossed…

Warehouses Seem to Fall Out of the Sky!

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Some folks who have been collecting arcade games for years have never had the chance to experience a single warehouse raid opportunity. I guess I am lucky as I just got cleared for the purchase of another small warehouse full of games. I have to be mum on the details right now as I don’t have the games in my possession yet, but I just HAD to tell SOMEBODY! This is my fifth raid opportunity. Looks like I’ll be getting 24 games – 15 fully working. No parts or random junk just yet, but that may be on the docket in the future. One cool thing I can let slip is the fact that there is a supposedly working Atari GOTCHA in the mix. GOTCHA was the second 2-player game ever made and was Atari’s first non-Pong sequel made in 1973. Wicked. Wish me luck, I should have the games in my posession next week.

Warehouse Raid 2008 – Part 3 – Diamonds In the Rough

This is part 3 in an ongoing series dedicated to the documentation of my warehouse raid in October, 2008. Read Part 1 HERE and Part 2 HERE.

I consider myself lucky that I was allowed time to look over the bounty to fully assess the condition. As you can see from the photo above, not all the games were in great condition. In fact, MANY of the arcade games (about 1/3) sustained massive water damage. Apparantly when you leave a building surrounded by trees unattended for 10 years, the gutters and roof fill with leaves which forces water to find other places to travel. Who would’ve thought?

Here’s the full list of games that were in the warehouse: (more…)
