Quick Update

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Just a quick update to keep the posts coming. Wanted to let everyone know that I finally sold my Dragon Spirit. As cool as it was and as rare as it was, I ultimately decided to get rid of it as I never played it. It is now at a new home where someone will appreciate it much more than I could.

I purchased a Nintendo Punch-Out arcade game yesterday for $100 off of Craigslist. The game coined up and played fine, All she needs is a capkit on the top monitor to be 100%. However, I think I’m going to get the repro art set and do a full restore and put her next to the playchoice 10. Choice.

Lastly, I broke down and am finally getting the transmission fixed on my arcade hauler (‘92 Dodge Dakota V8). Therefore you guys will be seeing a lot more action in the restoration side of the house since i can actually go get stuff to fix now.

My local arcade is a Namco-operated Time Out in Colonial Mall Lakeshore – Gainesville, GA:

Anatomy of a Bulk Arcade Purchase

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Not everyone has the opportunity to buy out such a large quantity of arcade games in one swoop. There can be a lot of mystery surrounding the purchase price, some excitement over possible collector sales, but after some time, the deal is forgotten-never to be remembered. I’m sure some people wonder what the motivation behind such a large deal could be. Would a buyer of all this stuff purchase only to flip all the items or does he keep a few? Basically, what happened to it all? Here, eight months after my initial deal and still not completely rid of all of it, I reveal everything. (more…)

Arturo’s Arcade Lab

I am a Mad Scientists of sorts when it comes to video gaming. Ever since I was a wee lad back in Panama, I have been looking for ways to enhance the gaming experience at home. I started with an Atari 2600 (actually a Sears Telegames) back in “the day”. Then I got an Atari 800 home computer system, which was cutting edge at the time. It was the closest you could get to an original arcade games without actually having an arcade machine. But something was still missing… (more…)
