Warehouses Seem to Fall Out of the Sky!

Some folks who have been collecting arcade games for years have never had the chance to experience a single warehouse raid opportunity. I guess I am lucky as I just got cleared for the purchase of another small warehouse full of games. I have to be mum on the details right now as I don’t have the games in my possession yet, but I just HAD to tell SOMEBODY! This is my fifth raid opportunity. Looks like I’ll be getting 24 games – 15 fully working. No parts or random junk just yet, but that may be on the docket in the future. One cool thing I can let slip is the fact that there is a supposedly working Atari GOTCHA in the mix. GOTCHA was the second 2-player game ever made and was Atari’s first non-Pong sequel made in 1973. Wicked. Wish me luck, I should have the games in my posession next week.

Shameless Plug – Buy a Playchoice 10

UPDATE: This item sold for my buy-it-now price of $575.

No, I’m not selling my personal playchoice 10 – I’d never do that. However, I am selling a really nice extra. Check out my buy it now/best offer listing on eBay.

Goodbye Old Friend – Williams LITTLE CHIEF Pinball

I had to say goodbye to an old friend this past week, but got to say hello to another. My arcade hauler has been out of commission for six months and I finally gave in and shelled out some dough to get the transmission fixed. However, although what I was prepared to pay based on the estimate eventually turned into an additional 25% price increase at the last minute. Unprepared for the huge spike (transmission rebuilds ain’t cheap!), I needed some additional money – and fast! Goodbye Little Chief!

1981 Arcade Game – Piranha Added to the Gameroom!

After living at least 10 lonely years in a warehouse, followed by suffering another 4 months in my garage, Piranha is finally getting the love it deserves in my gameroom:

If you recall one of my earlier posts, you’ll remember that the game was in great shape and was working, but Read the rest of this entry »

Quick Update

Just a quick update to keep the posts coming. Wanted to let everyone know that I finally sold my Dragon Spirit. As cool as it was and as rare as it was, I ultimately decided to get rid of it as I never played it. It is now at a new home where someone will appreciate it much more than I could.

I purchased a Nintendo Punch-Out arcade game yesterday for $100 off of Craigslist. The game coined up and played fine, All she needs is a capkit on the top monitor to be 100%. However, I think I’m going to get the repro art set and do a full restore and put her next to the playchoice 10. Choice.

Lastly, I broke down and am finally getting the transmission fixed on my arcade hauler (’92 Dodge Dakota V8). Therefore you guys will be seeing a lot more action in the restoration side of the house since i can actually go get stuff to fix now.

Bally Strange Science – Atom Smasher Multiball Video

Whenever a pinball pops up for sale on craigslist, I always check out www.ipdb.org first to see closeups of artwork and playfield and see if the theme and/or the layout interests me. After that, the next step is to check out youtube to see if there are any videos showing gameplay. Since there are so many pinballs that I don’t even know exist, much less that I have played, seeing a video of them in action is the next best thing.

During my searching of various pinball titles on youtube, I realized that there aren’t many that come up for a game that I own – Strange Science. Therefore, I took the liberty of taking some video of the exciting multiball action. Take a peek at it after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »

1974 Williams Strato-Flite EM Pinball

So my website design company finally moved out of our teeny office space into a much larger (and cooler) office. In the office was a perfect little nook for a couple games. Since it is mostly for novelty and not necessarily collectability, I decided to bring up Strato-Flite as the first of two games to reside there.

She’s not 100% just yet, but she’s doing a lot better than when I first turned her on. Read the rest of this entry »

Need A Power Up?

This may be old news, but I just saw that there is yet ANOTHER energy drink on the market – a Pac Man Power Up!

Pac Man Energy Drink

Pac Man Energy Drink

Having never even tried a Red Bull or a Monster energy drink, I doubt I’ll go out of my way to get this except for the novelty factor. However, I’d be all over it if when I drank it, everyone around me turned blue and ran away. Hmm… Maybe I’ll try it after all!

Like the Boy Scouts Say, Always Be Prepared!

What’s in those boxes you ask? Monitor Chassis (uhh…chassis’s?), all freshly capped and ready to go into games whenever the need arises. Do I need this many monitors? No, but one can never be too prepared. This is actually the result of something that was set in motion back in September. Read the rest of this entry »

Seller’s Remorse – RADARSCOPE

Ever had seller’s remorse? I sure have. Most recently, I’m feeling remorseful that I sold both of theĀ  first two Nintendo arcade games ever made – Radar Scope and HeliFire. I was already kicking myself for letting go of them recently, but it really hit me a few weeks ago when I saw that a single used Radar Scope marquee sold on ebay for almost $80! I know, you’re thinking – what the hell?! You had a Radar Scope AND a Helifire and you SOLD THEM? Yup, I’m feelin’ ya. But the worst part is, I sold them together as a package deal for only $500!

Now, let me explain myself… Read the rest of this entry »
