I now have a refurbished Sky Shark arcade game for sale. This is another hit game from Romstar that came out in 1987. I’m quite a fan of Romstar’s conversion stuff from the 80′s including Gunsmoke, Time Soldiers, Tiger-Heli, Twin Cobra, and Arkanoid. This game comes in a converted Pac-Man cabinet with the original marquee, bezel, control panel overlay, and button stickers in great shape. (more…)

I was reading a post over at KLOV asking for folks to reveal what was the most interesting thing that they found inside an arcade game. It sparked a memory of an experience I had a couple years ago. The second game added to my current collection was my playchoice 10. When I got the game, I was able to look inside it before I got it and saw that there was a mess of torn paper and other random things in the cabinet. I figured that a mouse had at one time taken up residence in the cabinet. Little did I know that the mouse still resided there…albeit dead.

I have a new favorite when it comes to cool-looking games:

Piranha is one of the games that I got in my recent warehouse buyout. It was also one of the few games that worked 100% upon initial powerup after sitting for over ten years! When I got her, she looked decent, but obviously needed someone to show her some attention to detail: (more…)

I had only been in the hobby for a few months before I was bowled over with the generoisty of some folks. I can remember someone local handing me a bunch of overlays because he could never use them and didn’t know what they were. Turned out they were for Lode Runner, and I was able to flip them for $20 each. I also remember Hans O hooking me up with a brand-new control panel button hole drill bit for free. Sometime later, someone on KLOV started the idea of a “Free Friday”. For the first couple of weeks, a thread would pop up with several people listing (more…)

I’m sure some of you are reading this and thinking I should quit my whining and just be thankful that I still have a local arcade at all. In many places, the local arcade is the lone Ms. Pac still in the neighborhood pizza parlor and not an entire location designated to gaming. My local arcade is a Namco-operated Time Out in Colonial Mall Lakeshore – Gainesville, GA:

I plan on creating an entire page dedicated to my for sale stuff, but for right now, here it is in post form. Most of these parts came off of games that had to be stripped of parts and demolished before going into the dumpster. There are a few parts that I have been trying to sell for a while now and have lowered their list price. I tried to give what I thought was a fair price to all things. There are only a couple of items that I have “make offer” listed as these are things that you don’t really see very often, so I don’t have a gauge to go by. If you think I’m off on price, let me know your offer. SHIPPING IS NOT INCLUDED. (more…)

I debated on ordering a control panel overlay for my playchoice 10 from Arcade Overlays for quite some time. I had heard mixed reviews from several folks on the forum. I knew that they were inkjet printed and not silkscreened and that the overlays are not precut for button holes. I had previously purchased purchased an inkjet repro of a space duel overlay from Mamemarquees.com that was the wrong size, had no holes, and was a pain to deal with. With the purchase price plus shipping, this PC10 overlay came it at around $40. With all that to take into consideration, I was swayed by one thing – this was the only place to get this. Sold.

Not everyone has the opportunity to buy out such a large quantity of arcade games in one swoop. There can be a lot of mystery surrounding the purchase price, some excitement over possible collector sales, but after some time, the deal is forgotten-never to be remembered. I’m sure some people wonder what the motivation behind such a large deal could be. Would a buyer of all this stuff purchase only to flip all the items or does he keep a few? Basically, what happened to it all? Here, eight months after my initial deal and still not completely rid of all of it, I reveal everything. (more…)
