UPDATE: This item sold for my buy-it-now price of $575.
No, I’m not selling my personal playchoice 10 – I’d never do that. However, I am selling a really nice extra. Check out my buy it now/best offer listing on eBay.
After living at least 10 lonely years in a warehouse, followed by suffering another 4 months in my garage, Piranha is finally getting the love it deserves in my gameroom:
If you recall one of my earlier posts, you’ll remember that the game was in great shape and was working, but (more…)
This may be old news, but I just saw that there is yet ANOTHER energy drink on the market – a Pac Man Power Up!
Pac Man Energy Drink
Having never even tried a Red Bull or a Monster energy drink, I doubt I’ll go out of my way to get this except for the novelty factor. However, I’d be all over it if when I drank it, everyone around me turned blue and ran away. Hmm… Maybe I’ll try it after all!
What’s in those boxes you ask? Monitor Chassis (uhh…chassis’s?), all freshly capped and ready to go into games whenever the need arises. Do I need this many monitors? No, but one can never be too prepared. This is actually the result of something that was set in motion back in September. (more…)
Ever had seller’s remorse? I sure have. Most recently, I’m feeling remorseful that I sold both of the first two Nintendo arcade games ever made – Radar Scope and HeliFire. I was already kicking myself for letting go of them recently, but it really hit me a few weeks ago when I saw that a single used Radar Scope marquee sold on ebay for almost $80! I know, you’re thinking – what the hell?! You had a Radar Scope AND a Helifire and you SOLD THEM? Yup, I’m feelin’ ya. But the worst part is, I sold them together as a package deal for only $500!
I haven’t been making posts lately, as I have been preoccupied with REAL LIFE™ and haven’t had time to devote to online shennanigans. That doesn’t mean, however, that I have had no arcade adventures. Here are a few things that I have been up to since I last posted on the blog
finished demolishing all the water damaged cabs from the warehouse raid and threw them in a dumpster
made a deal with a fellow for a whole bunch of Nintendo Vs. Kits and parts
finally received the Gunsmoke control panel stickers I had reproduced.
ordered a NEO GEO – 100-1 board that I can’t wait to play
ended up getting frustrated with the skateball pinball machine and sold it on eBay for more than double my initial investment. Room – hooray!
finally broke down and subscribed to GameRoom Magazine
These are just little snippets of arcade-related happenings here at NCV. I plan on going more in-depth with some of those items, but I will do so later. I basically just wanted to get back in the swing of things and needed to dust the cobwebs off my fingertips. Until next time…
I know this is last minute, but I wanted to remind everyone to head over to coinopspace.com tonight for a live chat session with classic arcade creator Tim Skelly tonight from 9:30-10:30 EST. Tim’s credits include Reactor, Armor Attacks, Rip-Off, Warrior, War of the Worlds and many more. This is your chance to interact with a living legend in the classic arcade community. Don’t miss this opportunity.
I highly encourage you to check out coinopspace.com even if you don’t attend the live chat. There are many exciting things happening in this growing arcade-collecting community. I know Jeff has more creator chats lined up and is in the process of planning the first COSP contest – with prizes! I hope to see you over there.
Many of you regular readers already know about my serendipitous meeting of Bob, and how that led me to arcade bliss time and time again. However, for those of you who don’t know, Bob has been operating coin laundries for over 30 years and was the operator of the video arcade in my town during the 80′s. When it came time to get new games, Bob never traded the old ones in – he’d either convert them or keep them. Some games he had at his different laundrymat locations, but others he stored in his basement or warehouse.
When I first went to Townview, there were a few games in operation, (more…)
I now have a refurbished Sky Shark arcade game for sale. This is another hit game from Romstar that came out in 1987. I’m quite a fan of Romstar’s conversion stuff from the 80′s including Gunsmoke, Time Soldiers, Tiger-Heli, Twin Cobra, and Arkanoid. This game comes in a converted Pac-Man cabinet with the original marquee, bezel, control panel overlay, and button stickers in great shape. (more…)
