The Playchoice Gods Have Smiled On Me

Saturday, January 29th, 2011

I’m not one to normally score the awesome Craigslist deals. I don’t get updates sent to my phone, I have a normal 8-5 job so I can’t leave to get deals at the drop of the hat, and lastly, I live farther outside metro Atlanta than most. Therefore, I was almost certain I had already missed out on a deal I saw first thing this morning and was reluctant to even send off an email. The ad was for four different items – one Williams Flash pinball machine, two counter top touch-screens, and one bartop Playchoice 10, for $300 each or all 4 for $1000. The ad clearly stated that the monitor worked, but there no games came up on the screen. The owner suggested that the power supply needed to be replaced.

I’ve had a bartop playchoice 10 before, but that wasn’t what I was interested in. I was actually interested in what came with the PC10. (more…)

Another Small Bulk Buy

Monday, January 24th, 2011

It’s nice whenever the games come to YOU. I was contacted last week by a gentleman who had previously purchased games from a former operator I had dealt with in the past. He was looking to get rid of his collection because he was moving to a smaller house and need to downsize. Granted, the lot didn’t consist of many “classics”, but still not an entirely bad collection. My favorite part of the deal was that all the games but one were working! I also got a few circuit boards and NEO cartridges in to boot! (more…)

The Warehouse Raid That Wasn’t – Part 2

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

I suppose over a year-long wait is suspenseful enough, so perhaps it may be time to update you on how the “Warehouse Raid That Wasn’t” finally turned out:

Preston Holding a Rock-a-Fire Explosion mannequin head.

If you haven’t seen the video walkthrough of the warehouse, I suggest you take a peek. There was literally tons of stuff being stored there. Although the warehouse contained primarily redemption games, there were plenty of other cool items as well. Highights include the original Billybob’s signage, original restaurant booths, a photo booth, skeeball mahines, a bunch of video games, and of course – the full Rock-a-fire show including animatronics, sets, and sound equipment. Dig Dug Restoration – A Before and After Look

Monday, July 19th, 2010

This is a project I have been working on for essentially two years now. It was one of those, “I’ll get to it when I can” type of projects. It seemed that there was always something more pressing to attend to in line ahead of the game. As you can see, when I got the game, it had been converted to Twin Cobra. The boardset worked, so I was able to get a little coin for that by selling it on KLOV. Unfortunately, the cabinet was going to need some major work to get restored. (more…)

Atlanta Arcades Website Launches

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

mock_atlantaarcades_smallI am pleased to announce the official launch of the newly-redesigned Atlanta Arcades website. Atlanta Arcades is a local business here in Atlanta that sells arcade games, pinball machines, jukeboxes, slot machines, and services/repairs almost all of those items as well. The rest of my website design team and myself have been diligently working on this project over the past couple of months. Now the hard work is over and, I think the site is a success!

The connection was made through Craigslist as an offer to barter website design services in trade for pinball machines or arcade games. (more…)

Selling a Ton of My Project Games

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Whew. Being a parent of two kids can wear you out. With the birth of my second child in April, my freetime went out the window. I thought I would recover after a few months, but that idea is shot. Not to mention, I won’t be able to work at home and get distracted as easily. Therefore, I’ll be selling most of my project cabinets.

You can check out my posting and prices on craigslist.

This is actually old news, but I was so busy getting prepped for the party that I forgot to mention on the blog that I am now the proud owner of another Nintendo classic – Popeye!

Gunsmoke Artwork For Sale

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

gunsmoke_cpNoCashValue.info has teamed up with GameStencils.com to provide you, the fevered arcade hobbyist, with brand new Gunsmoke artwork for your very own restoration! Brian over at gamestencils has been great to deal with and his products are really top-notch. I know this probably isn’t a product in high-demand, but I love the fact that Game Stencils is willing to step out on a limb and carry some of the more “off-the-wall” and obscure items out there. I made some VERY cool additions to my post over at coinopspace about my GUNSMOKE restoration. Check it out!

Arcade Showdown (Party Update #1)

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Here’s an update I just sent to the folks on the email list: (if you’re not on the ATL collector email list, just send me an email with your email address and I’ll add you)

The party is still planned for July 25 and will start @ 5:30 PM. I will be providing hamburgers, hotdogs, and some beverages. I know one guest plans on bringing a dessert of some type. If you want to bring something else, great, but not necessary. I will have some alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks on hand, but if you have a preference, please BYOB. I have a full bed in my basement along with an air mattress in the same room in case anyone has too much to drink. If there are too many folks that need a place to crash, I can open up my office that is a few blocks away.

I just added a Wizard of Wor cabaret to the game list and I hope to add (more…)
