Had a great day today and was finally able to do something other than work. I spent half of my day picking up and setting up my new pinball game – F-14 Tomcat by Williams. Isn’t she a beaut? (More pics after the jump)This game was half of the deal made with Tom from Atlanta Arcades in trade for website design services. The other game was a Black Knight 2000 that went to my friend Shannon. The F-14 Tomcat is one of the fastest pinball games I’ve ever played. That Jagov kicker is intense. I still haven’t unlocked more than a 2-ball multiball, but I have “defeated” General Jagov and got the sweet victory music at the end. This pinball is designed by the great Steve Ritchie and Eugene Jarvis, so you know it has to be good.
Besides the speed, I love the lights – not just the neato toppers, but the whole playfield gets lit up during certain parts of the gameplay and it is almost blinding. Great use of flashers! There are four flippers and some great kickout holes and lanes. The soundtrack is pretty intense too: lots of jet sounds and some interesting speech. One thing I noticed was the machine guns sounded an awful lot like the gun sounds from the Smash TV arcade game, which was another Williams title. Aside from a dirty playfield, this game is in great shape. Give me some novus and a new set of pinballs, and this thing will be ready for takeoff! She sure looks sweet in the lights out lineup:
