Atlanta Arcades Website Launches

mock_atlantaarcades_smallI am pleased to announce the official launch of the newly-redesigned Atlanta Arcades website. Atlanta Arcades is a local business here in Atlanta that sells arcade games, pinball machines, jukeboxes, slot machines, and services/repairs almost all of those items as well. The rest of my website design team and myself have been diligently working on this project over the past couple of months. Now the hard work is over and, I think the site is a success!

The connection was made through Craigslist as an offer to barter website design services in trade for pinball machines or arcade games. Tom replied to the ad and was very eager to see what we had to offer. After an inital mockup (which you see above) we agreed to complete the job for two pinball machines – Black Knight 2000 and F-14 Tomcat. The website design package included a total redesign of his previous website, search engine optimization, a kick-ass e-commerce store, custom business card/postcard design, and professional product photography and photo manipulation. On top of the sweet look, we threw in some elegant touches like a nice image rotator and some jquery/lightbox on the product thumbnails.

I personally spent about 6 hours just taking product shots, while my employee Eric spent about the same amount of time using the pen tool to crop out machines to have a clean white background. Tom was great and I got to see all his cool games (there were about 30 in his home/showroom along wiht another 10 in storage). I wish I wasn’t working, so I would’ve had time to actually play the games. The process took a little longer than anticipated as we really wanted to make this site a winner and we needed to customize cubecart to work the way we needed it to along with configuring a custom server to run the site so Tom could have absolute control.

The site has changed slightly since the original design due to client requests, but the majority of the design elements remain. I’m pleased that Tom was open to a modern design with a non-traditional color scheme to help him stand out from competitors. Check out how the branding / theme was able to transfer over to the business card (actually post-card size) we designed for the client as well:

businesscardJust add two pinball machines to the list of things that I’ve been able to barter for over the course of the past three years. So far I have traded arcade games or website design services and have received a Ms. Pac cocktail, electrical wiring, bathroom tiling, and tree removal. If you need any design services and are interested in making a trade, let me know. If you want to purchase a quality amusement machine for your home, call Tom with Atlanta Arcades at 404-592-6208
