This is actually old news, but I was so busy getting prepped for the party that I forgot to mention on the blog that I am now the proud owner of another Nintendo classic – Popeye!
I scored this puppy locally on eBay for a steal. The game was fully working, but did have some issues. First off, the sanyo needed a capkit very badly. However, I fortunately had a spare on hand and popped it in there for some bright and beautiful colors. The previous owner added a credit button on the front. It isn’t ideal, and I’d rather have it original and patch up the hole, but definitely something to worry about in the distant future. Popeye is missing the sideart on the right side completely and the left side is a little sad, but not terrible. Basically, this game doesn’t bring much in terms of resale value, but is a fun and PRETTY game. It looks like I’m going to have a nice Nintendo row by the time it’s all said and done with a PC10, Donkey Kong (48-1), DK Jr., Popeye, and a yet unnamed restoration I’m in the process of completing now.
