I had to say goodbye to an old friend this past week, but got to say hello to another. My arcade hauler has been out of commission for six months and I finally gave in and shelled out some dough to get the transmission fixed. However, although what I was prepared to pay based on the estimate eventually turned into an additional 25% price increase at the last minute. Unprepared for the huge spike (transmission rebuilds ain’t cheap!), I needed some additional money – and fast! Goodbye Little Chief!

Little Chief was good to me. It was the very first pinball I ever owned, and while initially hesitant of owning an EM since I only played solid states growing up, I accepted it as part of an offer I couldn’t refuse and really enjoyed the old game. EM’s offer a completely different “feel” to pinball and also provide a different sort of challenge. While it may not have all the “bells and whistles” of a newer solid state, Little Chief was still challenging and captivating. Since I don’t think I ever took pictures of it before, here now as a last hoorah are some shots of this cool, and now politically taboo, machine:

It is always sad to see something go, but I know that this will definitely NOT be my last EM. Once I make some more headway on other tasks at hand I plan on adding a Royal Flush to the lineup. I don’t think there will ever be anything to rival the sound of those EM score reels turning and bells chiming. So thanks Little Chief for broadening my horizions and showing me that something old can still be fun. Oh yeah, and thanks for helping me get my truck back so I can haul more games! Enjoy your new home…

How much did you sell it for?
