Bally Strange Science – Atom Smasher Multiball Video

Whenever a pinball pops up for sale on craigslist, I always check out www.ipdb.org first to see closeups of artwork and playfield and see if the theme and/or the layout interests me. After that, the next step is to check out youtube to see if there are any videos showing gameplay. Since there are so many pinballs that I don’t even know exist, much less that I have played, seeing a video of them in action is the next best thing.

During my searching of various pinball titles on youtube, I realized that there aren’t many that come up for a game that I own – Strange Science. Therefore, I took the liberty of taking some video of the exciting multiball action. Take a peek at it after the jump…

I am the first to admit, I am not a great player. However, on this video you at least get to see the awesome multiball, and the “strange science” sequence. In my limited pinball experience, I haven’t come across too many with a 5-ball multi. One cool thing about this is that you can load up the atom smasher and end a game, but the balls will remain locked in the atom smasher even if someone starts another game. This was probably done for incentive for people to add more money (kinda like a continue)  or as an attract mechanism since someone could walk up and see a game close to a “payout” and want to drop a quarter to try and hit paydirt.

Sorry for the dim lights in the video, but I really wanted to show off the light sequence. I’ll post another video soon that lets you really see the gameplay in the light, but also just how dang cool the flashing red neon topper is. Damn, that thing makes the game!
