Scored Another One! Arcade Warehouse – June 2009

Well, I scored it! Let’s chalk another one on the tally board. As far as large bulk deals go, this is my fifth. This lot isn’t the largest I’ve scored, but it isn’t the smallest either. Although there aren’t too many classics in this lot, for the money I think it is still a decent buyout.

read more and view pics after the jump…This warehouse is located in the “carpet district” in North GA up I-75. The warehouse itself seems as large as an airport hanger, but makes the amount of games seem small since those are the only items in this gigantic space. As I’ve grown accustomed to, there is no power at this warehouse, but luckily the bay door allows enough light to see along with some assistance from my maglite.

I got this deal by getting a cold call (well, email) from an operator who knew I bought out bulk lots . Essentially, the operator is retiring after operating games since 1975. The deal was an all-or-nothing deal since he had to drive a good ways to get to the warehouse and just wanted to be done with everything in one swoop. There were 24 games in this lot and of those 24, supposedly 15 of them are working.

There are a few more pictures available to view in my flickr set if you’d like. There were some disappointments with this lot like the fact that one of the games I was stoked about – Gotcha! by Atari – is completely missing its bottom and the Operation Wolf’s bottom is separating. However, there were a few pleasant surprises, like the fact that instead of a tetris being in the game lot, a Ms. Pac man stood in its place. I’m renting a 24′ Ryder truck with a liftgate and will be picking these games up on Thursday. If anyone sees something that catches their fancy, let me know and maybe we can meet up at the warehouse on Thursday to save me from loading and transporting an extra game or two.

I’d have offered $1500 for the lot. and not a nickel more since it was an all or nothing. I’d like to see more of the Choplifter.
