I was reading a post over at KLOV asking for folks to reveal what was the most interesting thing that they found inside an arcade game. It sparked a memory of an experience I had a couple years ago. The second game added to my current collection was my playchoice 10. When I got the game, I was able to look inside it before I got it and saw that there was a mess of torn paper and other random things in the cabinet. I figured that a mouse had at one time taken up residence in the cabinet. Little did I know that the mouse still resided there…albeit dead.
It appears that the mouse was using anything and everything he could find to make a bed – including quarters! By the time I cleaned out the bottom of the cabinet I ended up with almost $120 in quarters. You better believe I handled that stuff with rubber gloves and let the coins stew in a big pot of bleach/disenfectant beforeĀ would touch them. I looks like the mouse met his demise by the operator squishing him with the coin box. He was plastered to the wood and his juices from decomposition left some highly unpleasant stains on the coin drawer. However, for over $100 I can overlook these infractions.
Ok, so that is obviously the worst thing I have found in an arcade cabinet. What’s the best you ask? How about $487.50 in quarters? Cha-ching!
