I think I may have pinball fever. I recently received a package in the mail that contained my order from Marco Specialties. Inside the priority mail box was a Mr. Pinball 2009 Price Guide, 5 flexstone files, Life After Death III: Warehouse Raid DVD, and Volume 5 2-disc set of This Old Pinball repair DVD.
I’m excited about all this stuff, but mostly the DVD’s. I think it is really neat that there are high-quality DVD’s out there for the hobby. Aside from Randy Fromm’s stuff and some clips on youtube, there aren’t really any sources for DVD’s for arcade games restoration or repair. Having been on some warehouse raids, I am excited to see what the Life After Death video has in store. The flexstone is a flexible file that will be great to file down all the contact points on those EM pinball machines I got in the last warehouse raid.
The Mr. Pinball price guide is probably the item that will get the most use from me (after the flexstone, of course). Obviously, I have already used it to see the values of the games I got in the warehouse and they match relatively closely to the values I have seen on eBay. This will come in really handy when browsing for games I haven’t heard of on craigslist. While I understand that a game is worth what someone will pay for it, it is nice to have a starting reference point. Aside from Exidy’s simple price guide, I haven’t seen much else to go on in the terms of arcade. It is my understanding that this price guide exists due to the author being both a pinball enthusiast and a statastician by trade. Perhaps we just need to get a statastician interested in arcade games…
